Living From the True Self

So often we make choices based on our circumstances. Other times we make choices based on what others believe is the best choice. In both of those platforms we are making choices that do not derive from our True Core. We are not living the life that is ours by Divine Right. STOP for one second and just think about what I'm saying. Take inventory of your life, past and present and truly look at the job you once worked or are currently working that you dislike because it's not really what you want to do. Or the relationship you once settled for or are still settling for. The Major you chose in college when you had a true passion for life and how your current job has absolutely nothing to do with that passion you once had that drove your decision making. NOW ask yourself, "What happened? What changed?"    The answer may come automatically and it actually may not be that easy. But once you find the answer, your next step should be towards getting back to or FOR SOME introducing yourself to your TRUE SELF.  The person God intended you to be.
Everyone at one point in time or another has made a choice based on circumstance. Hell we all have responsibilities and families. But, at the end of the day there is a piece of us that feels anxious and empty all at the same time. Leaving us to wonder what is missing? And to make it SIMPLE. YOU are what is missing!! The TRUE YOU has been on the sidelines long enough. It's time to get back in the game!!
So often, we speak life into the life of others and forget to speak it into our own lives. We teach our kids to be themselves and to be leaders and not followers and we constantly ask our friends and partners to "Keep It Real" and "Be Themselves". But, how many of us truly live out those same expectations we place on others? We owe it to ourselves to live from out TRUE CORE. Our TRUE BEING. Our DIVINE ESSENCE.
In order to do that we must Meditate, Pray and Seek growth through knowledge. We must expand our self-awareness and not be afraid to face and accept those Ugly Dark things  about ourself because from Darkness Comes Light!!!

M.O.M. (Mom's On A Mission)

Well Hello All. These last few days have definitely been heavy for not just myself but for the Nation. Which leaves me to question everything I once knew. All of my life I have been told of stories of brutality and racism beyond anything that I could ever fathom. I have even experienced my own various levels of racism and brutality. But, to see the events that have taken place over the past few days is HEARTBREAKING!! I am at a lost for words and I feel the need to DO SOMETHING. I can't just continue to sit around and do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!! I wanted to do something to help EMPOWER and EDUCATE the people. OUR PEOPLE. HELL ANYBODY THAT IS WILLING TO DO MORE THAN JUST LISTEN. I want to be the VOICE of the VOICELESS. When these BLACK MEN are killed (and not just at the hands of the POLICE) it is the WOMEN, the MOTHER'S who are left to pick up the pieces. It is the MOTHER'S who have to make sense of it all and pull the family together. It is the MOTHER'S who have to bare the scars of the experience. It is the MOTHER'S who are told to BE STRONG while being forced into SILENCE. This is no longer a time where Women just sit at home and allow the Men to go out and fight because OUR MEN are being murdered, incarcerated, or are totally non-existent in the HOME. We must NOW fight and protect our homes, OUR CHILDREN, OUR FAMILIES. So it is time that we UPLIFT, EDUCATE, and EMPOWER our MOTHER'S to TAKE A STAND and TAKE BACK our families, our homes, our FATHER'S, OUR SONS. This is a time for US as WOMEN to set aside the PETTINESS and PRIDE and come together. Our children's lives depend on it. We need to educate others on GUN LAWS, and our CIVIL RIGHTS and LIBERTIES, FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE, and most IMPORTANTLY OUR HISTORY. We cannot MOVE FORWARD if we don't understand where we come from. Change is more than just marching together, it's about creating a platform to address the real social issues while coming together to find a way to make these things happen.

So I decided that I wanted to create and start a movement that can work towards efforts that will incite change on many levels. All it takes is just one! One Voice, One Person, One Stand.

Being Still

Sitting still is probably one of the hardest things for me to do, but I am slowly learning the value of being still. Our greatest Blessings come to us when we are still and learn to allow God to do His will. I'm quite sure many of us if not all of us have our own plans and dreams as to what we want out of our own lives. Unfortunately, it doesnt quite work that way. There is "OUR PLAN" and then there is "HIS PLAN" and as we all know... HIS plan is much greater than ours, but it is not an easy plan to follow.  But, if we sit still long enough all will reveal itself and the plan won't be so hard after all.
Sitting still is being able to find peace in the midst of chaos. It is being able to center and calm yourself while everything else is running rampid. It is having the ability to seek peace when your soul is screaming to make moves. Sitting still is being able to Do ABSOLUTELY nothing while having everything to do and trusting that it will still all be accomplished.
Sitting still requires you to listen with more than just your ears. Its having the ability to listen with your heart. Slowing yourself down and getting in tune with your spirit and the universe. It is creating a space of peace and tranquility and learning to JUST BE. Life will have many distractions, so it is extremely important that we take the time to take a step away from things long enough to recharge and take inventory of what life has laid in front of us. It is a chance to gain perspective and prioritize or re-prioritize. It is a chance to breathe and just reflect on life and what is, what was and what will be.
Sitting still gives you a chance to BE IN THE MOMENT. A chance to just sit and take note of what you are present to right then and there. Being still can also give you a chance to reflect and realize the things you have not been present to as well.
Just remember BEING STILL is an important part of the GROWTH process. It is also a chance to gain clarity and a unique closeness with the MAN ABOVE. It is a moment in which we stretch beyond ourselves and tap into a deeper richer sense of self and being. LEARN to BE STILL and watch the BLESSINGS unfold.

Until we meet again my friends... PEACE and BLESSINGS.

Celebrating Failure

Hello Everyone!!! Now I know as you read the title you probably are thinking.... "Why the Hell would anyone want to celebrate failure?" But, if you think about it, it really all makes sense. In our moments of failure there is always a lesson to be learned. In addition, in that very moment that you succeed, that is the moment in which you are celebrating your failure. If you think about what I am saying then you will see that it is all simply about your perspective. The way you view things is important because how you respond to that very thing is based on your mindset.
What often happens is that we allow the emotion within us regarding "that thing" to dictate our actions. And that my friend is a recipe for disaster. Making critical decisions based on your emotions does not allow one to see things with a clear head. And as we all have heard or have even told others, being in one's feelings is not a pleasant place to be.
Failure in itself is very unsettling for many. The very thought of failure keeps people from chasing their dreams. The fear of failure places people in a prison built by self, limiting our ability to truly see our own power and strength to succeed and accomplish whatever it is we seek. Just the mention of the word failure places people in a place engulfed in doubt and insecurity. It is important that we NOT be afraid to fail because with failure comes success. Just think about it. When you fail at something you definitely learn what not to do next time, you learn what worked and what didn't work. You may even learn a NEW way to accomplish the task at hand. It is definitely a chance for you to gain a greater level of self-awareness and build character or in fact have your character revealed to you. Regardless of what comes from failure, in the end it is all about your PERSPECTIVE.
Failure is either going to MAKE YOU or BREAK YOU. Ultimately, the decision is up to you. You have the power and you make the choice on how things will play out. If defeat is the stance you choose, then defeat is what you will feel. And from that point the choices you make will be guided by that feeling of defeat. However, if you can take that failed situation and all that you have learned and make an effort towards still accomplishing that goal, then the decisions you make from that point will still be guided by the goal of ultimately attaining success. PERSPECTIVE will change your life, it will change the way you think and most importantly the way you speak. Your language will either manifest your success or manifest your failure. You have the power and it is your choice.
In life you will learn the valuable lesson of picking your battles. Well in this scenario you can either fight for what you believe in and speak life into your life or you can allow defeat and failure to fight the good fight for you. But, I am pretty sure none of us want to live a life of mundane existence when we can live a life of happiness, power, strength, and SUCCESS.
YOU DECIDE.........

Until we meet again my friends..... PEACE and BLESSINGS.

Getting Off The Fence

It is such a beautiful day outside today. As the sun shines down on my face, I am able to soak in the blessings that God has bestowed upon me. I have been in such a transitional space these last few months and it has been quite a humbling learning experience. I've hit some amazing highs and some definite lows, but I can definitely say without a doubt that I am still standing. At one point I would constantly wake up with questions on my mind about where my life was headed, what road was the best road to take to get there, and if I was making the right decisions especially when things just didn't seem to be working out in my favor. I just couldn't get out of my own head and I can guarantee that that is not a good place to be. So I decided to take a step back for a minute and decide what it is I wanted to do. It was my moment of truth. That moment when I needed to make a decision about what it was that I truly wanted and accept what has already come to pass. I was definitely straddling the fence on what my next move was going to be. Having options can be a good thing, but it can definitely be stressful as well. But, I knew that in order for me to create a plan of action I had to first know what it is I am trying to accomplish.

Life can be funny like that sometimes. You prepare for what you think is how it's supposed to be and then life throws you a curve ball. However, that isn't always a bad thing. I had someone say to me recently.." Mishaps sometimes set you up for something bigger. And it was meant for something to not happen so that something else does." And at that moment everything made complete and total sense to me. For that reason, questioning everything that did and didn't happen was just really counterproductive to everything I am trying to accomplish. It became that moment of clarity when being in my own way was evident. That moment when I needed to sit my ass still and let the universe do its work. It was time to sew a few seeds and sit back and see what manifests while putting my words to work and stand in the faith I tell so many others to stand in.

I have to accept what did not work out and decide what will and do the work to ensure that it all works out. But, in order to do that I definitely cannot straddle the fence. There goes that perfectionist in me that wants to prove that I can make it work. And then reality sets in and life isn't moving any slower while I am sitting around trying to prove a point. And for what? Exactly NO ONE but myself. And that point only matters to me because I don't want to feel like I failed. Unfortunately, that inner battle is not one worth fighting for, so I will have to defer that energy to something more productive.

The Ego is a strong characteristic that we all carry. And that's okay. We just need to remember to keep that little piece of us in check and remember what is important and what matters and not what is desired. Because at the end of the day each and everyone of us will have to wake up and look in the mirror and love and accept who we are and the choices we have made in life whether good or bad.

Until we meet again MY FRIENDS... PEACE and BLESSINGS.

The Feeling of Defeat

We all set goals in life and want nothing more than to achieve those goals. But, what happens when we don't? A bunch of emotions set in that all seem overwhelming and sometimes paralyzing. Leaving us in a place of frustration and confusion. Feeling less than and often times feeling defeated. How do we overcome this feeling? How do we not become stagnant worrying about the shoulda, coulda, woulda's? Focused on all of the things that we simply cannot change. I've been pondering this for a few weeks now because I have found myself struggling with this very dilemma. What seems to frustrate me more is that I believe that the goal I set was very attainable. Maybe not quite as easy as I anticipated, but definitely achievable. However, the results that I received were not quite the results I was  looking for. But, like the old saying goes, "Every cloud has a silver lining." There was definitely a lesson learned from the situation and that is what is most important. Although the desired goal was not achieved, it does not mean that it cannot be achieved. Better planning is definitely key and expecting the unexpected is important as well.

I still struggle with what could have been, but that doesn't help the situation much. It doesn't help me to create a space of openness to what is to come because I'm too focused on the past and what I can't change. It's important to remember that looking backwards doesn't allow you to focus on moving forward. What cannot be changed must be left behind so that a space is created for what is to come. And although it sounds easy and as I type these very words to my readers out there, I still find it a struggle to not feel all of these things. Funny thing is, is that I can sit here and recognize it and see the humor in it. I'm not in denial of my flaws surprisingly. I accept them and by doing that it allows me to move forward and focus on what matters. That would seem like an oxymoron considering the fact that I can be a perfectionist in specific areas of my life. Oh the things that make my world go round.

Amazingly so, I now find myself moving towards a place of acceptance for the the journey I am now on. And that is in fact the first step in moving forward. Accepting what has happened and not happened and choosing to move forward is the most important step in the process. It shows that one does not feel defeated, but in fact empowered to push forward and continue towards the goal. There are various ways to get things done. So maybe this just means you need to re-group and create another game plan. Using what didn't work the previous time to figure out what can possibly work the next time. The failed opportunity is not really a negative thing if you really analyze and pay attention to the small lessons that come out of them. Most times it teaches you something about yourself. You gain self-awareness and are afforded the opportunity to be more aligned with what is yours by divine right. You can create another game plan that is now more closely related to who you are and what it is you need and not what you solely desire.

In life everything is about perspective and how you react to the ups and downs of this crazy roller coaster we call life. Remember, do not let your emotions get the best of you. Making decisions in an emotional state is definitely not a good place to be in. In addition, focusing on the past doesn't leave much space for you to focus on what is to come. Be patient but diligent in making decisions and creating a game plan. Be prepared for completion of your goal but, also be mindful of hitting a couple of snags along the way. But, most importantly ALWAYS remember to KEEP YOUR HEAD UP and continue to move forward. Be GRATEFUL for every opportunity whether GOOD or NOT SO GOOD. Nothing worth having will come easy and anything easy isn't worth having.

Until we meet again PEACE ans BLESSINGS.....

The Power Of Language

Language is more powerful than we even know. What we speak and profess with our mouth is how we shape and identify the world in which we live in. We create a linguistic box and whether we choose to believe it or not, what we speak we manifest. Not only do our actions help manifest what we want, but the words or language we use can manifest the things we want and don't want as well. That is why it is important that we SPEAK LIFE into our life.

It is time to DECLARE what you want out of life and in your life. So many times we speak more about the things WE DON'T WANT and those things are the very things that we end up giving life to. Take back the POWER that you have always had within you and begin to speak about the things you do want. But, don't just speak it, write it down so that those words can become real. Just thinking about it doesn't make it come to fruition. Create the possibilities you want by simply speaking them into the universe. Once you speak them, bring truth to them. BRING LIFE TO THEM. Once you do this a new life emerges. New possibilities for being call you powerfully into being. New openings for action call you powerfully into action. Frame the context of your words. Decide what it is that you want to accomplish. As it states in Proverbs 18:21 " Death and Life are in the power of the tongue."

There is an amazing book that I am now reading for the 3rd time by Florence Scovel Shinn called, "The Game OF Life and How To Play It. " I would strongly suggest that you read it as well. This very passage comes to mind as I am writing this blog..." Man only dares use his words for three purposes, to heal, bless or prosper. What man says of others will be said of him, and what he wishes for another, he is wishing for himself..... The body may be renewed and transformed through the spoken word and clear vision, and disease be completely wipes out of the consciousness."

Remember... SPEAK LIFE INTO YOUR LIFE. The power of words can heal and not just from within. In order to heal the body one must first heal the soul. Be empowered to SPEAK POWER. SPEAK POWER into life, into your life, and into the life of others. So I say that to say this.... BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR WORDS. BE CAREFUL with the language in which you use to create the world in which you live in. If you don't believe in the power of what you speak, then start to watch the reactions of those you speak to. I guarantee you people are listening to those very words more than you even realize. As the Good Book says..... "The tongue is mightier than the sword."

Until we meet again. Peace and Blessings.......
